Kauai part 2: Kalalau Trail

Discussion in 'Wanderlust and Travel' started by natethomas, Jul 27, 2009.

  1. Here are some pictures from the 22 mile hike that my wife and I did earlier this month on the nw coast of Kauai. There are a few spots that were on the polarizer that I haven't cleaned up - I still have about 900 pics to process!

The view that greeted us after 11 miles and 8 hours - the end of the road!

Turn to the left and this is what you see - those top cliffs are nearly 4000' tall!

Eventually the moon decided to show up:

After two nights of camping, we headed out.

About 3 miles onto the trail - looking back toward where we camped:

Yes, that's the trail that we just hiked in the background - not really any room should you encounter a hiker from the other direction:

We went out on one of these catamarans the next day:

Thanks for posting a great series. We should all be so lucky.

  4. I'm already looking forward to going back again - it's been every 5 years, so only another 1,800 or so days!
