Kenko Teleplus PRO 300 DGX 1.4x AF Teleconverter . Anyone have any experience with this? I have never used a T/C before and the reviews seem favorable. Yes? No? Alternates? I’ve also read on B&H that some folks are using this with the 70-300VR. Anyone doing this? Wasting my time and yours?

As Always…. Thanks!

It is very good. I'll throw you a few examples of this used on a Tamron 180mm f3.5 macro.

First....all three photos in this thread were with the pro300 1.4TC

For non-macro work (but using the same 180mm)

I honestly can never see any degredation in IQ when using the Pro300 1.4tc compared to using the lens bare.

I've also used it with the Tamron 17-50 f2.8 for closeup work with great results (makes it a 25-70 f4 which is kind of cool.

It's great -- very flexible, works with lots of lenses, and a minimal effect on quality for the most part. No TC will work well with a slow consumer zoom like the 70-300VR, though. I've tried it -- focusing is really poor, and it suffers optically, as well. Cropping is generally going to work better in that case.
