Kid's Soccer using only the 70-200VR

  1. This weekend, I gave myself an assignment to see what kind of different photographs I could make at my daughter’s soccer game using only the 70-200VR. I tried to avoid the usual action shots and look for something different. It was a fun exercise and I’m going to repeat it again next week with the 12-24. Here are a few of the photos.

    Jeff,

Very nice soccer shots. Sharp and well exposed. The 70-200VR is one heck of a lens, huh?

You and the kids pictured will enjoy these for years to come. ;-)

    Regards,

    Frank

  3. Very nice shots Jeff!! :D :D :D

  4. That's a great lens for this type of shooting. Well done.

shootin soccer is quite the exercise...i think you need to photographer to cover the both ends of the field...

not sure about the little ones...maybe they play a small field?

  6. Thanks. This was more of a visual excercise rather than photographing the game. I'd definately bring a longer lens to cover the action and more around a bit more.

jeff, i think 70-200 should be fine with the little ones...is the field that big?...

  8. Love those crisp shots! I'm just starting with this lens and it's nice to see what it can produce in various hands! Good shots, Cheers

  9. Terrific job, Jeff! It'll be fascinating to see the different perspectives you get when you use your 12-24 for the next set!

  10. When I shoot rugby I've so far used Sigma 70-300 or Sigma 170-500 or recently the Nikkor 80-200 AFS.

I've often thought about the challenge of seeing what sort of shots I could get if I restricted myself to my Nikkor 50mm 1.8, but I've never dared take the risk through fear of missing too much.

    So.........................

I will monitor your experiment with avid interest.

    Thanks for sharing.
