Meet Junior, one of two males born to the resident Downy Family at Hodgepodge Pond. Here he is patiently waiting for mom near the suet block.

Mom arrives and resumes the instruction. I have watched this same training for the last few days. Usually both of the young are present. This time however only one showed up. Junior seems very interested in technique.

Mom now feeds Junior. Important to this story is that at no time does Junior give any indication that he knows how to do this at all. So, mom continues to feed him.

Mom leaves and looks for the other young male. Who, by the way shows up late. But, as it were, as soon as mom turns her back, Junior shows he can manage very well on his own.
Gee, I have some kids like that.
