I took a day off work and went to Land Between the Lakes in KY the other day. I watched this kingfisher fly from one tree, dive into the lake, then land in another tree. He did it quite a few times, and I was able to catch him in flight. He was really fun to watch. He did catch some fish, but my pictures of that came out rather blurry. Thanks for looking.

Thanks, guys! It sure was interesting watching him that day. BTW, why is he referred to as a "devil bird"? I've not heard of that.

Because otherwise we'd have to cuss when we talk about it. We call it that because it has tormented the souls of so many poor photographers. They're hard to shoot sitting on a branch, let alone zipping through the air.

    Very nice capture!

  8. Amazing I love when people share their captures. This is great. I've tried and never had any luck.

I'm a huge fan of bird images where the subject is small in the frame when they are presented as well as this one! I love it!

Jeff, you are right. These little buggers are very quick! That's probably why in most of my pictures of him, he is just a little blur!

Andy, thanks so much for your comment. I do appreciate it!

One day when I must have been very good, I was lucky and got this:

Remains my only decent shot of one in flight (or at least I think its decent  ).
