(large images) SF - The Mission District

  1. Just some images wandering around the Mission in San Francisco this weekend. I live about 60 miles from the city. All are hand held, D2X, 17-55 DX. Comments welcome if you've a mind to. Not crazy about most of these myself. My first try at city street work. Need to find my eye for it.

Wandered into the dedication of a new mural.

Mission trees. I love the trees in this area.

  2. Hi, Ed

The mission can be a lot of fun especially for photographers. I recognize some of the murals you shot because they are close to Calumet. In fact I have a version of your "blue", which I did last year with my 12-24 that I call "meter running blues." Here's the link in case you'd like to see a wider angle view. http://www.pbase.com/beaucamera/image/33332344.jpg

Of your set, I liked #1( fabulous color!), #2 and also the last one. Boy, that 17-55 DX is sharp!

    Nice series Ed...
I am looking forward to my vacation to SF in January to explore some more of the city.
I have been there several times and there are lots of areas I haven't even thought of photographing yet.
I am looking forward maybe hooking up with Virginia while out there too.

I like number 3. It looks like the tree is part of the mural.

  5. Ed,

Very nice. I'll have to check out this area on my next visit to son's place in Oakland.

Thanks for making me aware of the Mission area.

  6. Thanks everyone.

It is my favorite too, to be honest. For me it says the most about my impression of that area. The art, the trees and the hip car.

There was a lot more to it too, of course. Lots of old, mostly defunct theaters. One appeared to be restored. Or at least the tall sign was.

You can see a few more images here.

I like the blue one best.
    One subject works for me.

The art and expression of feeling is quite unique.

I like the last one (two) also.

I checked out the others. That is one crazy cat on the wall.
