this isn't a sports event since i got up too late to get the serious racers 8) i did get some photos of the amateur runners. the fun runners were a large group. i've never seen so many kegs in shopping carts before  the tough part was taking everything. there were too many colorful and interesting costumes, and the density of the crowd made it tough to get a clear shot and was driving AF a little crazy. i went a bit overboard, taking over 1600 shots. i also ran out of power (i forgot to charge the battery the night before and i didn't bring my spare) and i was shooting jpeg instead of NEF to conserve space. d2h and 70-200mm VR. even the devil needs exercise sponge bob four legs the vikings are coming run, it's about to rain! maybe i can distract him so he won't give me a ticket the latest in eye wear the look of determination now this guy's definitely not a serious runner synchronized running? if princess leia was from san francisco cup holder one of the most ornate costumes winnie the wino more photos at http://ottosphotos.com/gallery/050515_b2b. please note that there are some nude photos in the gallery.
OMG! What a riot - I was ROFLMAO for sure. Uh, did I detect a bit of discrete blurring on that one? PS - great exposure considering no nef.
Good job on these Ricky! Man, what a colorful, eclectic bunch of crazy, flaky ppl there in SF.... well in Cali in general, but *especially* in SF!! Very good job on the exposures too! Really enjoyed (most of ) them!
Fun images, I used to live in SF but never did get a chance to run in Bay to Breakers. I also recognize the guy with the blurred "unit" from Burning Man a few years back.
Holy cow! This world is full of crazy people  What a great opportunity for extensive shooting. Well done!
all i can say is...WOW!!!! Those are some really amazing photos to observe....yeah, i notices the "discrete blurring" as well...and i'm sure i'm not the only one that thanks you for that !
hi all- thanks for the kind words chris and leigh- i didn't want to cause a stir, so i applied some motion blur. it was decorated though, talk about attention to detail. this was my first time to shoot a ton of jpegs, usually i go for NEF's. the images turned out softer than usual. i normally sharpen when i convert the NEF's in capture, but didn't compensate for that when i processed these images thanks again to all, ricky
Nice shots!! The guy dressed up like Gene Simmons RULES!!! I drove the actual Gene Simmons of KISS around Huntsville, Alabama about 15 years ago. Super nice guy!!
ROFLMAO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Chris said it best. Can't add to that. One question?? How did you stop laughing long enough to hold the camera still enough to get such great images. Thanks for sharing. I needed a laugh. Wait till I show these at work.. lolololololol
