Just before it becomes dinner. A Eurasian Eagle Owl coming in for a landing.
D2x with 70-200 VR
*LOL* Excellent photo and a great title! Love those orange eyes!!!!
Thanks Sandi, I was having a tough day, it was about 95° and humid, in the shade and the D2x just didn't want to AF and track anything. A few did come out ok, but not to my expectations.
Cool shot Bay....
Amazing shot - - poor little mouse. ;-)
Great shot - scary!
Thanks everyone, I guarantee the mouse didn't feel a thing!
Bay wing that is great coverage with a 70 to 200. I would think if you had really heavy haze from the humidity you could have AF troubles but I would also think the lens you were using (200MM) should have been OK. I have found this with long glass on these types of days and near a river it can get pretty hazy and the eagle nests here are all long photos. No focusing problems there!!! I suppose the only comfort for the mousie is in the fact it must die of fright before the owl strikes. Fantastic photo!
Looks Good from Here, WOW nice close-up
No probs with the haze, I was only about 10' from the bird, it was more a comment about my physical discomfort.....which can distract from the task at hand.
Thanks, the mouse is day old dead, so I know it didn't feel a thing!
thanks, not much choice on the close-up, it's a BIG birdie!
Sorry Baywing I missed out on that as I thought you meant the weather. The photo looked great.
What extraordinary intensity you've captured here. Nice work.
Super cool image! Those eyes are something else.
