Late Day Harrier

    I didn't even see this guy coming...I was watching a muskrat swimming toward me and literally saw this guy fly into the viewfinder. Rather startled, I fired three shots and managed to get one in focus...He was flying towards the sun at an obtuse angle...

    That's a VERY nice pic. Sky shots often seem to be rather boring but this image REALLY pops!

    I think the hint of the background helped to add some 3 dimensionality (is this a word?) to the subject?

    Right you are. I didn't appreciate that aspect of the pic until you mentioned it. That's how a good image is supposed to work. :)
