Do I need a lens hood for my new Nikon 35mm f2? If so, which one? HN-1 or 3?
Can it be used for 50mm f1.4 or 1.8 too?

Thanks a lot for your advices.

    I use the HN-3 for both my 35mm f/2 and my 50mm f/1.8.

  4. The HN-3 is the correct hood for this lens on 35mm film and FX. There is no real "correct" hood for this lens on DX bodies. I still use the HN-3 on DX bodies but you may be able to use something longer.

I use a rubber hood for my 35mm.

I have another rubber hood i use for my 50mm and 55mm.
Metal hoods should be better in most any way, but i like those rubber hoods.

Unless you want it for protection, the 35mm isn't very prone to flair so I personally wouldn't bother with one.
