Discussion in 'Wanderlust and Travel' started by Rui Lopes, Jul 16, 2007.

  1. Everybody knows, Brazil is not a rich country. However, people over there is not hungry thanks to their natural resources. I decided to share some moments of their relationship with the sea:

I like the car barge, what kind of vehicle is that sunbuggy?
    Brazil is so good.

    Great captures
  5. Super pictures...that boat in #2 must weigh a lot, and, taken quite a bit of time to carve out of that tree!
  6. Thanks for all the kind comments.

NZ Doug: Yes, some are in Bahia.
The car is a popular one they use everywhere, called buggy. It is built on a VW plattform and uses an old VW engine from the 50's moved by a mix of fuel/alcohol. The body is glass fiber and it is very easy to find people building and coating their buggy body at home... This vehicle runs and jumps all the sand beaches and dunes you can imagine. That's why you can find in the middle of a beach things like this (translation: maximum speed allowed):

Great images. I'm in the Sheraton Rio right now, but I seldom have time to get out and take pictures on these trips. Thanks for sharing.
  8. Thanks for the wonderful images. I now have a little better understanding of the people.

  9. The barge is really cool.

Superb shots! Love the color and composition in #2 (boat). Not just your regular tourist stuff.

I am also portuguese from Lisbon. I am new to this "cafe" but so far I do enjoy it!

Now, what wonderful set of pictures you've got from Brazil, specially these about the fishermen! Where did you take it? I mean the first and second? And how did the man over the rocks capture the fish?

Nice pictures again! I like how you reach out to people and capture the place.
