Well done, I prefer the second one with the clouds!
I wouldn't like to be near where they were touching down, that's for sure!!

The last time I caught any lightning shots was on the top of Pikes Peak. Frankly it scared the heck out of me and I quickly folded up my tripod and left. Your shots are nice, thanks for sharing them.

Striking!!! Great captures but the second one is a charm with the clouds and wind swept rain. Well done.

Anyone care to give their tips for making a good lightning photo?

long shutters and hope for the best?

set exposure for anticipated extra light?

I use a tripod, cable release and the bulb mode. I just hold the shutter open and wait. Once the lighting has occurred i close the shutter. This works well for night lightning.

I only tried lightning photography once, and got 3 shots with bolts in it, none anywhere near the quality of these. Incredible photos, but the 2nd shot in the 1st post should be in a gallery somewhere.

Impressive! Of the first two, I prefer the composition of the 2nd shot, ie, less ground and more sky.
Nice work.
