Hi Andy,

What FL are you using? Hard to get a handheld 300mm shot really sharp for close-up, even with VR. Hard to give you advice without the shooting info... Was it breezy at all? Any slight movement can cause blur on close up in either the camera or the bloom.

I agree with Rich, wind movement is the ultimate enemy of the closeup photographer. If possible shoot several frames in the hope that one comes out ok. Of course keeping the camera steady (tripod) is a great idea as well.

Despite of this, it looks plenty sharp enough to me. They're lovely flowers.
