The position and alone nature of the man takes the photo to a much higher level than it would be if he wasn't in it. That characteristic almost places this photo in the genre of street photography. Some might understandably argue that, indeed, it is an example of street photography.

I was shooting architecture and was not set for street photography as I was carrying a D700 with a 24/2.8 AIS lens. Not the best for street photography, but you do what you can with what you have, so a little crop, and this is what you get.
I see that you cropped the photo to get the composition, but there is something special about the fore/mid/background relationship that you achieved with the wide angle, particularly with the man in the image. Very nicely done.
