Loggerhead Shrike...

    I got his guy at Vierra. I was parked in my car and he came and landed on the post not too far from me.
    I thought 'that's a cute little songbird'. I later find out its a shrike and a pretty viscious eater. The hunt bugs and small rodents. Since they don't have talons, the will impale their prey on things like barbed wire and thorns to hold it while they pick it apart.

    Nice shot of him chris,

    I have a few of one getting prey and impaling on a fence, also out in Viera.

    His eye is so black next to the black feathers it is tough to get a good one of him

    You did good :>)))
  3. From the looks of the fence post, it looks like he's had quite the feast!! :eek: 

    As for the shot, I think it's great. Might could use a little shave off the top. I think I like the 2nd pose best. Nice job, Chris!!
