Occasionally birds get off track and we get to see something unusual for the area. In this case an immature yellow crowned night heron has settled in locally. Took me 4 or 5 visits to locate it but got lucky last night.

    Wow! You nailed it!

  7. Thanks Randy. Got lucky, had just repositioned to a river bank and it flew almost straight at me.

  8. Not this one Bob. Was actually only about 10 min from home.

  9. Thanks Darrell. Have lots of pics of it in the river eating crayfish but had this one opportunity when flew from perch to water.

  10. Thanks Rick. Light was decent to allow some detail to show.

  11. Thanks Karen, I was fortunate to be right place, right time ...... finally. Went back for a 6th visit and struck out. Might try again.
