    Hi you'll,

I was happy a while back when I got a pic of a least bittern. I wanted to complete the set and get his larger cousin the American Bittern but had no luck until a few weeks ago. I didn't even know I had caught an American Bittern (I thought I was shooting a juvenile night heron) until I started to catch up on some post processing this week.

they look so much alike in stature

  5. Another great capture Harry. I saw one of these earlier this year with Bill Dewey. I told him we were shooting a LGH but as it turned out it was the American Bittern as well. It was the first and only time I have ever seen one. Thanks for sharing.

  6. Have to be on the lookout for this guy next time. Great shot Harry, as usual!! I may be heading out there again this weekend.

Not luck Harry. One or two or three great shots might be luck. You have way too many excellent posted shots to call this one luck.

It's called skill my friend. Being in the right place at the right time, and prepared to take advantage of the opportunities when they are presented.

    Hey Jim,

Thanks for the kind words. I had to laugh about your story of shooting an American Bittern thinking it was a green heron. A while back I was sure I was shooting an American Bittern so I took around 5o shots and it turned out to be a green heron.
