Mac DVD video converter recommendations

Discussion in 'Apple/Mac' started by beaucamera, Aug 2, 2009.

  1. Now, that I've started to get into video I've found that I can't play a DVD on my Mac without a converter.

    What do you recommend?

  2. I'm not sure what you mean- my Mac plays commercial DVDs just fine- are you creating the DVDs yourself, and if so how are you encoding them?

  3. Paul, the files are M2TS files on the DVD. The file, a movie I created, was rendered as a Sony AVC file. This approach was suggested to me in order to obtain the highest quality for viewing.

  4. Try VLC. It plays just about anything.
  5. VCL did the trick.
I tried it on both OS X and Vista 64.
To use it, though, you have to open the DVD and locate the STREAM folder on both platforms. My file was an *.M2TS
    Worked like a charm.
