Magnolia blossom - does this work??

Discussion in 'Macro, Flowers, Insects, and Greenery' started by BostonRott, Apr 28, 2007.

  1. Ever have one of those days where you think you captured some great shots and then upon post-processing, hate everything you shot?? :frown:

I passed a gorgeous magnolia tree today, thought I had some good shots of the flowers. Nope. Tried to salvage at least one shot. Does this work? Is it too boring? Leave your eye no where to land?

It works very well as a square crop. Nicely done.

you might try bumping the contrast up a bit on it, but a pretty bloom shot. I'd probably also crop the lower section of it a little more to get rid of the center altogether.

  4. Thank you Doug and Josh. I'll try to play with this some more later this afternoon.

  5. It's a beautiful shot, and I agree with Doug. Give it a tad more contrast.

I also think it has a beautiful feeling to it. If it was mine, I'd probably do some cropping on the bottom, right and top. It's abstract to start with and cropping would make it more abstract.
