Mandrill Baboons

  1. This female is from last summer at the Dallas Zoo. This won Grand Prize at their '04 photo contest (shameless bragging I know, but it's about my only accomplishment to show for the bazillion dollars I've spent on gear). It was 100 degrees out and 95% humidity and she made me sit there practically all day before she came out of her shady little nook.

And here's a shot of her male counterpart. A little different markings and about twice the size.

  6. Very impressive! Those eyes do sort of grab you and to me they say, "Get out of my way!"
