Mariam in hosptial

Hey ya’ll - one of our newest members - my daughter Mariam is in the hospital. For those that know us, she had a stroke 4 years ago and over time she has lost her ability to swallow when eating. That’s the short of it. I don’t know how long she will be here but if any of ya’ll want, you can send photos through this thread or under her own name here. - Right now I can’t remember what it is lol! She’s doing well as of now, she has started therapy and hope to be able to eat again at some point. So I’ll try to check in when I can and keep ya’ll updated.

So sorry to hear this news and I'm absolutely cheering Mariam on in her recovery. She fought valiantly and worked very, very hard in PT and OT last time and I'm sure she's going to be doing it again as she deals with this current situation. More power to her!

I hope she can fight through this soon. I can identify with her. After my stroke two years ago, the swallowing test was the hardest to pass. I spent hours doing swallowing exercises under a therapist's supervision. Not much fun.

Thanks ya’ll! She’s miserable, well we both are, but she’s in the best hospital - they’re doing everything they can to get her comfortable. Just keep praying and sending those pics! Thanks Connie for reminding me her name lol

Sorry to hear that. My sister in law went through the same issues when she had her stroke. She eventually recovered her ability to swallow. Wishing for a full recovery.

It might be helpful to let us know if she has a favorite kind of photo, if she wants to see particular styles of photography she's not used to seeing, or whatever will make her happy.

Hoping for all the best in Mariam's recovery. My dad had a major heart attack and had lost the ability to swallow. He did recover fully after some therapy. Fight on Mariam!!
