Markins tripod base

Has anyone used the Markins tripod base as a way to get rid of the center column? Does it actually make the tripod more stable? I'm thinking about doing this retrofit to my tripod to lighten things up even more on my gitzo 1257.

I've got a Gitzo with a center column which I initially bought because I figured it would be convenient for shooting art prints hanging on the wall in the house which I sell on ebay...along with shotting wildlife.

It turned out to be to unsteady with wildlife so I removed the center column, bough a marking anti vibration base and a Marlkins ballhead...and have been happy ever since

I use the base on a Gitzo 1220, Gitzo 1377 Ball head, RRS plate D1X and 300mm AFI f/2.8 sometimes TC14/20E
It makes the whole setup very stable, the base is a very good design!.

So, thumbs up on the base for vibration reduction?
