Meet Cain and Abel . . .

    I came home tonight to find one of the Screech Owl owlets already peering from the nest hole in the tree. It was there for quite a long time (half hour or so) when I noticed it was then dangling halfway over the edge of the hole. In the shadows behind him, I could make out its sibling jostling its way to the front so it could look out of the hole too. In the process, it had nearly defenestrated its littermate.

    Happily, the first made its way safely back inside and they shared the view -
