I got a 35-70 off forum member, Bobber, and boy, is this thing sharp or what?

Dubbing it the Zen Master....it is teaching me what "sharp" means.

Here are a couple of obligatory cat shots.

    1) Fed Up With Flash
    Camera & ISO: Nikon D200 @ ISO 200
    Lens & Focal Length: 35-70/2.8 @ 70mm
    Speed & Aperture: 1/125 @ f2.8
Exposure & Meter Mode: Manual / Pattern
Lighting: CTO gelled SB800 on left of picture (manual, 1/128). Cactus 16 Channel Trigger.
    Support: Handheld
    NK1_9346.

    2) Chillin
    Camera & ISO: Nikon D200 @ ISO 200
    Lens & Focal Length: 35-70/2.8 @ 35mm
    Speed & Aperture: 1/125 @ f2.8
Exposure & Meter Mode: Manual / Pattern
Lighting: CTO gelled SB800 on left of picture (manual, 1/128). Cactus 16 Channel Trigger.
    Support: Handheld
    NK1_9343.

Thought I'll throw this in. Macro Mode.
    Camera & ISO: Nikon D200 @ ISO 1600
Lens & Focal Length: Nikon 35-70/2.8 @ 35mm (Macro Mode)
    Speed & Aperture: 1/10 @ f2.8
Exposure & Meter Mode: Aperture Priority / Pattern
    Lighting: Ambient (Computer Screen)
    Support: Handheld
    NK1_9317.

The bad thing is that I only just realised what critical sharpness is.

A while back I couldn't decide between this and a 28-85/2.8-4 and thought I had solved it by getting a 17-55. I realised quickly after getting that lens that I didn't like it. My criteria of small and compact was really important and when Bobber put one on sale, I snapped it up. Now, I have found Nirvana!

Wow, the second shot is awesome. I have about 1.9 million(maybe not quite that many) cat shots myself. They are very willing and available subjects.

    Glad you like the lens.
