Did you read Asterix and Obelix tales? Do you remember how Obelix loved Menhirs? Well, here's the tallest we have in Peninsula Iberica (Portugal+Spain), 50 feet high, raised perhaps six to seven thousand years ago:

Interesting photos and informative link, Rui. We often forget that where we stand is often the site of much older civilizations and cultures.
Yes Bob. Amazingly, even nowadays we still are finding not yet discovered traces of the past very close to us. Two days ago, the ruins of a roman fountain have been found while building a new hospital 10 miles away from Oporto.

A fascinating subject Rui. Thank you for sharing your shots with us. I'll read up on these monuments today.
