Started seeing something in the viewfinder and at first I thought the refurb'd lens had an issue. After removing the lens, saw that the mirror had fallen out. Looks like the glue gave away (shutter count is about 4.5K). Was going to send it in but after doing some research, turns out this was a common issue with early 5D's and one individual simply glued it back on. I gave it a shot and it's fixed now.

Here's a quick DIY vid in case anyone is interested (it's 4K but still processing):

Basically you need:
- cyanoacrylate glue
- tweezer
- microfiber towel and screen/lens cleaning solution
- duster
- 2 x q-tips or small applicators

I'll report back in the long run on whether it holds up. Anyone else run into this on their D500?

As an update, nearly 300 shots were taken on the repaired D500 at church last night for one of our dedication season plays and nary an issue to be found (no focus issues either). We have four more events coming up so will report when that's done how the repair is holding up.
