Moab Photography Symposium, May 12-15

Jan 21, 2009
I have signed up for the symposium again this year and today got an update to the event. Bruce Hucko, who hosts the event each year, mentioned that about 84 folks have signed up for the symposium as opposed to the usual 100 or more folks. So, there are plenty of spaces available if anyone is interested. Link is here:

I have wanted to attend since I first heard of it and was able to do so last year. I found it to be a pretty intense few days of great presentations by noted photographers followed by small workshops in the late afternoon. In the evenings attendees get together to show each others work and just talk about photography. Last year we had these great skies throughout the conference so I went out each evening and morning to photograph. It was a wonderful experience. On top of that it is relatively inexpensive for such an event - $225 for the symposium and $60 each for the two workshops.

This year there is an art walk in Moab during the symposium and the facility is included in the art walk. So, it is a chance to show, maybe sell your work too. Seriously folks, a gathering of a hundred or so serious photographers, with presentations by well known photographers, the chance to go out on walks and hikes with the very same photographers in small groups (11 or less in a group), showing off your own work, morning and evening shoots in places like Arches - does life get any better?

BTW, I am not affiliated with the folks who run the conference, but I do admire them greatly.
