How often should a LCD monitor be caliberated ? I believe there is some drift involved in even as short a period as two weeks ? How often do the pro's caliberate their monitors ? I have and use the GregtagMacbeth Eye one Photo.
    All advice welcomed, thanks.

For CRTs I do calibration at least twice a month, for a LCD this frequency isn't needed (I use LaCie PhotoVision 20 monitors), so I do them every second month or so, haven't discovered much of a drift with them though.

LCDs: Weekly for the first 8 weeks; then increase the time between calibrations over the next 6 months, thereafter 6-8 weekly.
CRTs: Daily for first week; Weekly for 3 months; then at least every 2 weeks forever. LCDs have an illuminate that changes characteristics a little for the first month+, then gradually settles down to quite a stable nature. CRTs change rapidly at first, but are always changing a bit for their life. This works for critical applications, such as stop-motion movies, critcal continuity set-up stills for movie sets, and such like - very few "normal" photography tasks require such stringent calibration, so the above is (probably) the maximum needed.

    Thanks Jim

Noted your advice. I havent caliberated my monitor since 7-8 months as it seemed fine. Guess will have to increase the frequency regardless of how it appears to the eye.

  6. 6 to 8 times a week?!

I calibrated my Mac Cinema Display in February and what comes out of my printer looks like what's on the display... and ... prints from outside sources look like what's on the display too.

    6 to 8 times a week?!

    Hi Woody

I think Jim meant , to increase the frequency to 6-8 weeks.
