I just started posting pics on this site after an absence of several years. I was using LR on a 17" MacBook Pro to process my pics. It finally died and I am now using a new desktop computer with a 24" HP monitor. I just moved off my Samsung tablet to view some of my recently posted pics here. Good Lord. They are all "over cooked" ( too much sharpness, too much noise) looking.

Unless you have properly calibrated your monitor you can't tell. New monitors are often sold with everything turned up - too much brightness, too much everything. You need to use a hardware calibration device. it is the only way, one cannot just do it by eye.
