Moon at 1000mm

So I get this 1000mm/f11 reflex lens, and it just screamed to be used on the moon. I don't think it did too bad.
I used live view (zoomed in) to focus it, since its a manual lens. That was kind of annoying.
Every time I touched the focus ring, the image bounced around on the LCD, and the orbit of the moon meant I had to move the focus point around to keep it on the screen.

And a 100% crop just to rub it in :)

I was hoping it would be a little sharper, but I wasn't really sure what to expect from a reflex mirror lens.

Thanks for the comments. I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Wow, thats awesome! How much does a lens like that cost if you don't mind?

I recently bought it used for about $400. The mirror lenses are a lot cheaper than the normal "refractive" lenses. I don't want to know how much a 'normal' 1000mm lens would cost (or weigh).

Great capture Chris.

Just curious - the moon is so far away, can you just leave the focus at infinity?

You probably could. But I wasn't sure how much I trusted the focus distance markings on the lens. And I didn't check afterward to see how it matched up.
