More than 1/320 not possible with fp and pop up flash

Discussion in 'General flash photography, lighting, and technique' started by LSUDVM, Aug 6, 2009.

  1. On the d300, is not possible to have a SS greater than 1/320 when using the pop flash? I can get SS greater than 1/320 when the sb800 is mounted but not when the pop up is deployed. thanks

No. Faster than 1/320 is Auto FP flash mode, and the SB flashes can do that, and the internal flash cannot. D300 page 289.

  3. Yup, onboard flash is a no go for 1/320 and up.

However, you can use the onboard flash as a master unit in CLS mode to trigger a sb-800 in remote mode with auto-fp fully engaged.
