I just picked up a new lens and wanted to try it out. All shots were taken with my D300 and 85 1.4.

I’m getting comfortable with the camera I am starting to see some improvement with my shots.

good

-very good contrast and detail
-nice natural colors
-good exposures

nit

-3, 6 seem a bit noisy
-to shallow DOF in 4 (fishing rod behind subject is out of focus)
-horizon tilting to the left in photo 1
-soft photo in 6 (lens can't focus that close or you moved while taking the
photo or you did not get an AF lock)

Dwayne,

Thank you so much for taking the time to give me specific comments on these shots, this is exactly the type of feedback that I am looking for and will use these suggestions to do a better job next time. I really don't do any PP work other than cropping and "quick fix" using MS Picture Manager, I just purchased NX2 so I will be learning that next. I see that I blew the focus on #4 and #6, I will keep plugging away and thanks again.

Yep - looks like you're getting to grips with it!

Keep shooting and listening to advice/critique.
