A thread in the General Discussion showed a photo that was a good seller. I photographed the eruption of Mount Augustine in Cook Inlet SW of Homer, Alaska for the NGS book "Nature on the Rampage". Since that time, I've sold this image hundreds of times for use in books, magazines, calendars, posters, etc. This one image, and several shot at the same time have made tens of thousands of dollars. Don't I wish I could get a shot a week that does so well!

This eruption occurred in March 1986. I photographed it on Kodachrome 64 from a Cessna 185. The mountain is 4200 feet high, the plume went 30,000 feet. I photographed four separate eruptions during a one hour time. It was without a doubt, one of the most exciting things I've ever seen!
