Here is a link to my blog with about 150 photos from today's drive.
We did a 500km round trip from Ashburton to Mount Cook national park. I was shooting with the GH5 and a 14-140mm lens
plus the GH4 with a Tokina 12-24mm lens with a 0.7X reducer. Here are a few snaps - the first of the wide angle ones looked
new to me as I started getting a migraine on the way there and couldn't see properly when we got to Lake Pukaki, so the camera
had to be my eyes.
Another 30km of driving next to the lake [during which my eyesight started to return but my left hand went numb for a minute - that's how my migraines
finish their attack] and we reached Mount Cook National park and took a 15 minute walk up the hill to the "Tasman glacier viewpoint".
Here are some snaps from the day.

I think Piggy mixed up the name "Lake Tekapo" with a command to "Take-a-poo"

Fabulous! (Well, perhaps not that last one). I remember some of those roads. Great place to be. Thanks for posting. I'll take a look at your blog later.

Thanks for sharing these, though sorry to learn about your migraines. If you get a chance to take a helicopter ride in the Mount Cook area when the weather is perfect, don't hesitate to spend the outrageous amount of money required to make it happen; I did it in 2000 and am so glad I splurged.

I took a 15 minute helicopter ride in Rotorua - took a day to recover from the motion sickness :D
I think the migraine was my first since moving 2 months ago, possibly due to a combination of take-away food
and the double Snickers bar I ate after that.

hopefully in a few weeks we will be taking a drive to Milford sound.

When I was there in 2000, the filming was still being done for the Tolkein trilogy movies. There were lots of very small adults in the cast wandering around town and enjoying the restaurants. The problem was that the cast and crew were taking up all of the lodging. Though we stayed only two or three days, we stayed in two places because there were no bookings in one place available to accommodate us.

Movies definitely boost the economy here - well before covid19 at least.

13?
It doesn't seem like it was that long ago that you presented him as a proud Papa.
Smaller canines seem to have a longer life expectancy than larger dogs.
Great Danes are about 7 years.
I think Piggy will be around for a while.
