I like all that I see. I look for things to improve but not sure I see anything. COuld the guy be a better ligher? I am not saying I think so - all I am saying is that this seems the only ppint of possible discussion. Terrific.

this is the original so you can see how some judicious editing improved it, I think.
Darkened the door so it didn't pull attention from his face.
lightened his face and torso so it looked like he was in a ray of sun.
darkened the walls
added saturation, sharpened selectively

all-in-all did what Mother Nature would have done if she cared at all.

I love shots like this that tell a story.

What I like is the chance to provide the elements with enough freedom and mystery that the viewer can cobble the elements together with some imagination to create the viewer's own story.
IMO, a successful photo should draw the viewer in and engage the viewer in crafting the story, the meaning.
The technical details should add to the reality and never distract from the viewer's involvement.
