My attempts at birds

    I don't have great hardware for birds, alas, but I've given them a shot in the past.

    This one was taken at the Back Bay Fens in Boston, MA. I used the 70-300 f/4-5.6G. Not a great lens, especially since it gets hopelessly soft once it gets into the 200-300 range. I had to stop down to f/11 and use ISO 1600 to be able to get this. Eventually I want the 300/4, possibly with a teleconverter, but that's way down the line for now.

    This one was taken with the kit 18-55 (!) in Eastern Oregon. This is about a 50% crop of the photo, I think.

    That second shot was a tough one with that lens. But nice
