I went out to shoot some Stilts and Soras (see other post https://www.nikoncafe.com/vforums/showthread.php?t=111066) and decided to stop by the Bald Eagle nest on the way back as I hadn't been out there for about a month. WOW. In 5 minutes there I had 2 great fly bys with a huge rabbit in its talons. I even liked the fly by with the trees in the background as much as the ones with the plain sky.

Enjoy.

Wow Gavin, were you driving along beside him while shooting these?!!?

Excellent in-flight tracking. I assume in your normal hand-held fashion?

Gale, Frits, Gary: Thanks for the comments

Flew: Yes, hand held, 300 f4 + the 1.4tc. I did recently get a monopod that I had been using for soccer, and I now use on birding trips but I have to remove it if I am shooting in-flight shots.
Thanks for the comment.

Spectacular...I like the gore, adds to the effect of seeing them in their natural habitat...surviving!
