My Best GBH (so far)

    This is my first post in this forum. I was pretty pleased when I saw the way this picture came out when I downloaded them to the computer. I was busy shooting so I didn't have time to analyze each shot as I got it. This is a fairly heavy crop but I think the detail was retained. I tried to use a gausian blur in the mud and logs in the background but my photoshop skills aren't quite there yet. Any ideas how to do this? Does this work for everyone?

    I think you blurred the bird to much and lost his detail

    Nice first post Robin. The GBH is one of my favorite photographic subjects.

    With regard to using Gaussian blur, I've found that even a little is often too much. In the case of this image, the background has so much varied detail that masking the subject to do a blur would be problematic in any case. I'd like to see a version without the blur.

    In any case, nice capture. :smile:
