It looks like your buddy has fireworks blasting off out of his head... :biggrin: Next time move him to either side of the actual fireworks and your results will be much better. Nice idea, composition just doesn't work for me.

Thinks for the tip guys. Almost everyone else agrees that the fireworks seem like they are blasting out of his head. They're all saying, "He has a bright idea!"

The fireworks are several frames taken from another portion of a dark sky about 1 hour later. For the main image I exposed for the sky 1/4 and F/5.6 ISO400 with off camera flash and a GF diffuser.

My first time shooting fireworks and I learned a lot. One thing I don't like is that he is looking at another direction than where the actual fireworks are in the final image. Next time I will shoot behind my subjects looking at a sky 1 hour before sunset and then place the fireworks over that image. I'm going to try this next time at Disneyland.
