My first bird in US ..... and it's a hawk

Discussion in 'Birds' started by Phil K, Jul 7, 2008.

  1. I haven't been posting in this forum for quite a while because of my busy schedules, and I could not believe I would capture a bird today.

I just arrived yesterday taking my boy to Stanford summer school. While we were doing registration in the park lot today, I suddenly saw something moving in a tree not far away, and gave me enough time to take a few photos. And I only had a 28-70 with me.

Lighting was not good and processing was no good with the notebook.

  8. Thank you Benjamin. It's very difficult to get the processing right while on the road.

Thank you Antony. It's my first sighting, and capture, and a Red Tail.

Thank you Dave. It's a surprised find for me.

Thank you David. It's sure a nice start, though I probably don't have time to do some real birding.

Thank you Mike. It's really a big raptor, much bigger that I thought.

Thank you Randy. The longest lens I have with me now is the 80-400, which was in the hotel room when I saw it.
  9. Welcome to the US Phil. Always fun to shoot a hawk.
  10. wow, you got close Phil!! nice shots.
  11. Thank you Jim. I was thrilled when I saw it.

Thank you Louie. It's my first Red Tail.

Thank you Raymond. It was directly above me, otherwise I could not get a good capture with 70mm.
  12. WOW, I live here and don't get that kind of photos!:biggrin: Nice shootin Phil! And welcome to the states! Hope you enjoy your visit!
  13. Thank you Dianne. I'm extremely lucky that day.

That's not fair! The first bird I got when I was in the States last month was a Raven!

    (Nice Red Tail!)
