My First Killdeer...and the Summer Regulars

All shot with a D300, 70-200 VR1. This time of year they'll come towards you if you're still/alone, and sometimes they get shot at under 200 mm.

Bobby. Yes, I think that you nailed the ID. Page 196 [The Crossley ID Guide Eastern Birds], adult non breeding reddish egret. Look at the bird on the right side of the page and read the text for both the REEG & SNEG. Good pix and good ID call. Any time that killdeer tend to come near or hold their ground you are near nest or young that they have parked somewhere. I have had one pair build 3 nest in one year on my farm. They will build in any open area. Field, lawn, parking lot, gravel roof top!
