My first try at Hummers

Discussion in 'Birds' started by Argent, Aug 18, 2008.

  1. I hate shooting birds at feeders (seems like shooting fish in a barrel)

but I've missed every opportunity I've had so far of shooting them in the wild (I've seen them plenty of times but they are gone before I can shoot)

so I spotted this guy at the Nature Center....

  2. Excellent! It is fun and challenging to capture these fast devils :)

  3. Nice Paul! Takes a lot of patience to capture these guys. Sitting and waiting and shooting till you get the right shot. I have a feeder that I can sit in a chair and wait. I don't want to shoot them sitting on the feeder, rather flying in or jumping off when they hear the camera click. I find the females are more obliging than the males. Sometimes they will sit in the tree or bushes. Getting them feeding at the plants is pure luck to me. Have to find a way to lure them in.
