Just last week a load of film stock arrived, among which were Rolls of RPX 100 & 400.

This Saturday, a flickr group met up to do a little city walk, and I thought it to be a good idea to try some of this new film.

RPX 100 surprised me a bit. I was expecting something to the likes of FP4 or Plus-X, but somehow, I was pleasantly surprised with the general look and feel from the scans; They seemed more chrome-ish, and the contrast gave detail a nice pop... Not a global contrast in that sense, but more a localised or micro contrast. FP4 seems pale and a little boring in comparison. It also has a slightly finer grain to FP4+

My only annoyance is the long developing times with Rodinal 1:50 :frown:

Developing:
Rollei RPX 100, EI 100. Developed in Rodinal 1:50, for 13:53 min at 23,2 deg C. Gentle agitiation for first 30 sec, then for 10 every minute after.

(I'm pretty sure the developing time can be reduced a little. My negs seemed a little on the dense side, and I'm pretty sure it wasn't my exposures. I often under exposed slightly due to a lack of sufficient light for hand-holding)

Here are my first results shot with my Rolleiflex MX-EVS Type II:

I would like to have these films to try, where i can find them in 120 and 4x5 formats? I don't shoot 35mm.

I buy directly from MACO. It seems i'm the only reseller of these films in South Africa. Freestyle USA should service the USA with these films.
