Here's a couple of pictures of my niece that I took yesterday, I couldn't really get #2 to come out the way I wanted it in photoshop, oh well I'll work on it some more. I am still learning editing pictures so here's what I have to offer so far hehe.

    #1

    #2

    #3

  2. cute girl
    nice shots
    but, all a bit OOF
    i looked at your EXIF...
i'd avoid shooting your lenses WIDE OPEN
i'd shoot your 50mm at f/2.8 at the widest
    you'll get many more keepers

no offense intended... it's just that f/1.8 on the 50mm gives you a DOF of 1" or less
yielding few if any images IN FOCUS when shooting young children

however.... post-processing can help improve any image
    in your second capture...
i decreased the saturation a bit and used USM for sharpening
    and came up with this:

    344396885_XuhdX-XL.

Thanks for the advice, I'll keep that in mind, I am still learning things, I learn through my mistakes and next time I'll get those keepers.

  4. what i did was very simple and show you how easy it is to make images better
    but...
and i cannot stress this enough
    avoid shooting wide open
even THE CAFE's greatest photographers get few keepers at those apertures...
    trust me on this point

  5. you are DOING GREAT
everything i am saying here, i learned from other members, over time

that's the greatest thing about THE CAFE
learning from others.... doing... then, teaching others

soon... folks will be coming to YOU for advice.... i promise you that

thanks for being a member here

  6. oh..... and your niece is VERY cute
can't wait to see more images of her

  7. Great advice (as usual) - The 50 1.8 is a peach of a lens... But VERY hard work at 1.8...

    Cute shots all the same!
