It could be a disassociation between the eyes. I have this problem.
When I look at an object, my eyes cooperate and I see ONE object.
But when I put the camera up to my face, the eyes operate individually.
In my case, when that happens, the eye(s) also rotates a bit.
So when I look with my left eye, and raise the camera the last few inches, the camera is leveled with my left eye.
When I get the camera to my face, I find that the image in the viewfinder is NOT level.
This is often the situation when I shoot sports.

To test this out, hold the camera up to your eye.
Look with your LEFT eye, and level the camera.
Then look with your RIGHT eye, into the viewfinder and see if the image is level, or not.

Hi AC. I see we are in the same neck of the woods. And speaking of woods how you doing with the smoke? I do have a problem with my eyes. If I look thru the viewfinder and close the other eye I can't keep my balance. So I have to keep both eyes open. I will try your suggestion.

Smoke has been terrible. Some days visibility was down to about one mile. I had to keep the house closed up, to keep the smoke out of the house.
Worse smoke + heat. Then it got hot in the house, with only a few times where the smoke cleared enough that I could air out the house and cool it down.
