Narwhal - Baffin Island, Canada

  1. In addition to Polar Bears, another "prize" being sought on this adventure was the elusive Narwhal. We saw them three different times, always fairly far away. We never saw any of the tusks that can be up to 10 feet long. Only the males have tusks and they don't often lift them out of the water.

    One of the guides on the ship was an Inuit hunter and he brought along a tusk that was about 6 feet long.
