The orchid season downunder is starting to ramp up. The Helmet orchids are starting to flower or are in bud. There are a few greenwood's in flower with more on the way. Then soon we'll be getting into more colourful ones.

All of these orchids are small, tiny in a lot of cases. I have trouble seeing the small ones and need to look for the leaves. They are easily trodden on, and many grow close to the ground. I use AF 99+% of the time as I have trouble seeing the flower even on cameras screen. The helmet orchids, there will be more varieties in flower over the coming months, are very small and grow close to the ground.

These are just some of the orchids currently in flower close to where I live!

#11 Mosquito Orchid usually colour form. Each flower could easily sit on my pinky fingernail and have room to spare.

you have mastered blurring the background and creating separation that makes all of these special.
Thank you. I do try to present the orchids looking their best. Not always successful, but most of them I’m happy with the results.

they are all stunners. See you have a shot of the new payment amount by shutterstock for images
Thank you. I also have the same orchid photographed with a NZ 10c coin for our relations back home.

A wonderful set as always. No matter how many times I see a photo displaying a coin to provide scale, I'm amazed at how small these flowers are.
Thank you. It amazes me how people found some of these orchids in the first place. I should try to include a coin a bit more often, particularly for the very small ones.
