Neat article about the 14-30 f4S

But it makes for a bigger than necessary combination IMHO, it goes in the opposite direction they achieved with the 14-30 and 24-70.
I'm guessing Nikon did it as a cost savings measure, since there would be little to be gained retooling the F-mount version to the Z mount. Plus moving forward, Nikon will have to redesign Z lenses with the new lens motors.

Well I don't know anything about the 16-80DX, but I have used the 24-120G. That IS a very good consumer-grade lens. ;)
Which 24-120 G do you have? The old f/3.5-5.6 without the gold ring or Nano coating is definitely a consumer grade lens (I had one of those years ago). The newer gold ring Nano Crystal coated constant f/4 version is much better and those two things identify how Nikon classifies the lens.
