I have been shooting my daughter's martial arts tournament for several years, starting with a D70 and the 18-200vr and SB-600, and more recently with a D300. She's starting to get annoyed about the flash, so I've gone ahead and rented a 70-200vr which I am hopeful will give me the type of results I've seen here. What do I need to know about this lens? Are most of you using Auto ISO? The facility is the basketball courts area of a local gym, so white balance is always tricky.

    Thanks

On the D300, bump up the ISO as far up as you want (I am happy to use ISO Hi1) and just shoot .. should be good enough.

I would do AutoWB and Auto ISO. Set to manual, probably f/2.8 and 1/640 or above and let the camera pick the ISO.... turn the VR off
