I am using a friend's netbk. while I am on travel.

I desparately need to get to my msn outlook email. I can get to the msn home page. but when I l click on Sign In, a blank new tab appears. The sections to enter user name and passwork never show up. Just a blank page.

Any thoughts? Perhaps some setting that prevents the computer from accepting a "re-direct" to another link/page?

Or .......!

Thanks so much!

Is this the page you're going to...?

https://login.live.com/login.srf?wa...1&owasuffix=owa%2f&id=64855&snsc=1&cbcxt=mail

There's a link "Can't access your account?"... Have you tried that...?

Same thing...I click on the you in your reply and a new tab opens...BLANK!

That's the reason I'm thinking there must be some security setting or something that blocks links or redirects.

Here is the address which is showing up blank

I had to paste it in because even clicking the icon above to insert a link does NOT work! In fact NONE of the NikonCafe icons above work! I could not even make these sentences BOLD!

It sounds like maybe there is some kind of security setting on that netbook
that is keeping you from accessing those pages... The link you posted works
just fine when I click it...

Is there anti-virus or firewall software on that netbook that you can temporarily
dissable and then try...?

Also, it may be some setting in the browser on that machine that is blocking access,
check browser settings...

Thanks. Private browsing was enabled...I disabled it. Made a few other changes. I agree, I suspect it's some securityt settings, I just don't know which ones.

I will try disabling either McAfee or Norton.....not sure which one is being used as I see both icons on the desktop....

Like the others here, I can see no problems with the link.

I don't like netbooks, they are so slow and underpowered - there are decent proper machines of the same size. The only good thing about them is that they are cheap.

Having both McAfee and Norton is doubly asking for trouble. If it was my machine I would uninstall Norton immediately, you still have McAfee. You can check which is installed by Control Panel/Programs and Features.

Odd that private browsing was turned on, that is normally only used for visiting porn sites!

I just spoke with the owner of the Netbook....Acer Aspire.

She has never really used it and has no idea of what settings should be. I am going to re-set everything to defaults...un-install Norton....and see what I can do.

If anyone can thinkof any security or other settings that might be causing the problems above, PLEASE let me know.

Thanks!

Perhaps you are not noticing the new window/tab? IE can be configured different ways.

Have a careful look at the screen.

Also try clicking on the link while holding down the Ctrl key.

Sorry to imply possible user error but it is always a possibility.

Just for fun try resetting Internet Explorer settings...

>Click the little icon that looks like a star/gear/sprocket at the top right of the window
address bar

>Choose "Internet Options"

>Choose "Advanced" tab

>Click the reset button

I was interested to read your idea and I looked at the website. I didn't comment because it wasn't me seeking a solution. So you were at least noticed...

Thanks for looking, I have retrieved my mail that way in numerous countries and thought it would help her.

As with Richard, I looked but wanted to try help solve the problem with the machine
Karen was using... Your solution may work but it doesn't fix whatever is happening
with the netbook...

Retrieving email was only one of the problems from her report ...

If we can't figure out how to fix the machine she's using she may have to use your
solution but it would be like taking a taxi to work because your car won't start... It
may get you to work but your car still won't start... As I understand it, Karen is on
vacation and may need to do other things as well besides just retrieve email...

True, but the way I read it was the urgency to access her email account. Ifshe is borrowing a machine its not right to alter the settings to just do that
